Những năm gần đây, một số ngành trong lĩnh vực văn hóa Việt Nam có nhiều tín hiệu tích cực. Ngành điện ảnh đã sản xuất ra một số bộ phim đạt doanh thu phòng vé hàng trăm tỷ đồng; nghệ thuật biểu diễn đang bùng nổ và hàng loạt buổi hòa nhạc quy mô lớn được tổ chức.

Du lịch văn hóa ngày càng thể hiện vai trò quan trọng của mình như một động lực tăng trưởng cho “công nghiệp không khói thuốc” của Việt Nam. Lĩnh vực thiết kế sáng tạo cũng đạt được những kết quả đáng ghi nhận, nhiều sản phẩm làng nghề truyền thống đã trở thành tấm danh thiếp văn hóa của Việt Nam trên trường quốc tế.

Thực trạng hiện nay cho thấy các ngành văn hóa cần khẩn trương tăng cường hợp tác, xây dựng cơ chế liên kết chặt chẽ để các sản phẩm văn hóa có thể hòa nhập vào đời sống xã hội dưới nhiều hình thức khác nhau, tiếp cận nhiều nhóm đối tượng đa dạng hơn và tạo ra nhiều giá trị hơn.

Đánh giá từ kinh nghiệm quốc tế, trong thời đại kinh tế sáng tạo, việc hình thành lợi thế cạnh tranh của ngành văn hóa không còn phụ thuộc vào việc nó có bao nhiêu nguồn lực mà phụ thuộc vào việc liệu nó có thể chuyển hóa các nguồn lực khác nhau thành chuỗi giá trị hay không.
